Clear skies greeted visitors to the Cronyn Observatory Open House, Saturday, May 19th, 8:30 p.m. Graduate student Neven Vulic made the digital slide presentation, “Exoplanets,” while faculty member Dr. Jan Cami operated the big 25.4cm refractor in the dome, assisted by graduate student Hoda Rashedi.
Cloudy skies greeted 26 visitors to the Cronyn Observatory Saturday Summer Open House, May 12th, 2012, beginning 8:30 p.m. Graduate student Shokoofeh Nourbakhsh made the digital slide presentation, Constellations, before the initial group of 20 visitors. They were all smiles when they came upstairs into the dome, excited to see the telescope.
Despite clear daytime weather, clouds rolled in by evening for the Cronyn Observatory Saturday Summer Open House, May 5th, 2012, beginning 8:30 p.m. Astronomy faculty member Dr. Els Peeters showed the Venus transit information slide and then made her digital slide presentation, The PAH Universe, concerning Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons detected in space by spectroscope.
Hazy clouds gave way to clear skies for visitors to the Cronyn Observatory Open House, Saturday, April 28th, 7:00 p.m. Graduate students Robin Wing and Emily McCullough were in charge for the evening with Robin making the digital slide presentation, Our Solar System, to the first group of 23 visitors (17 adults and 6 children) in the lecture room.
Graduate student Tyler Desjardins made the digital slide presentation, The X-Ray Universe, before 8 visitors (6 children and 2 adults) from the 29th Byron Scout Troop, at the Cronyn Observatory for Exploring the Stars, Thursday, April 26th, 7:00 p.m. Graduate student Allison Hill was also present.
