Exploring the Stars, Exeter Guiding, April 18th, 2012

Graduate student Tyler Desjardins made the digital slide presentation, The Scout / Guide Astronomy Badge, before 33 visitors (24 children and 9 adults) from Exeter Guiding at the Cronyn Observatory for Exploring the Stars, Wednesday, April 18th, 7:00 p.m.

The sky was clear and Tyler invited the visitors to view the crescent Venus and later Mars through the big 25.4cm refractor in the dome, using the 17mm Nagler eyepiece (258X). On the roof patio Bob Duff showed one man Venus through the RASC London Centre’s 25.4cm Dobsonian, using the 6mm Orthoscopic eyepiece (190.5X). He showed the rest of the visitors Mars through the Dobsonian. Everybody was gone by around 9:00 p.m. after an enjoyable evening of astronomy slides and observing.
