Hello All,

We have 5 Exploring the Stars events and 2 Public Nights, January 9th—31st, 2018, at the Cronyn Observatory on Western University campus.

RASC London Centre members who are familiar with this program set up amateur telescopes on the observation deck outside the dome.

There will be a waxing crescent Moon, from January 22nd, with a first quarter Moon on Wednesday, January 24th, and a full Moon on January 31st. Deep-sky objects visible include the Orion Nebula (M42), the Pleiades star cluster (M45) and the double star Castor in the constellation Gemini.

The events are as follows:

Date / Time: Tuesday, January 9th / 5:15 p.m.—6:45 p.m.

Cronyn Observatory Weekday Public Night
Date / Time: Monday, January 15th, 7:00—9:00 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event @Cronyn Observatory
Date / Time: Tuesday, January 16th, 7:00—9:00 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event @Cronyn Observatory
Date / Time: Monday, January 22nd, 6:00—8:00 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event @Cronyn Observatory
Date / Time: Tuesday, January 23, 6:30—7:30 p.m.

Cronyn Observatory Saturday Public Night
Date / Time: Saturday, January 27th, 7:00—9:00 p.m.

Exploring the Stars Event @Cronyn Observatory
Date / Time: Wednesday, January 31, 7:00—9:00 p.m.

The Alumni / Thompson Parking Lot beside the Cronyn Observatory charges $1.50 / half-hour to a maximum of $12.00 / day. The gates go up and there is free parking after 8:00 p.m.

There is FREE parking after 5:00 p.m. in the Ivey Business School Lot on the west side of Western Road just north of Elborn College.
