Cronyn Observatory Saturday Public Night, June 16th, 2018

Post by Robert Duff » June 11th, 2018, 10:31 am

Hello All,

We have a Cronyn Observatory Public Night, Saturday, June 16th, 2018, 8:30—11:00 p.m., as follows:

Cronyn Observatory Summer Public Night
Saturday, June 16th, 2018
Time: 8:30—11:00 p.m.
Presentation: Star Formation

RASC London Centre members are invited to bring their telescopes and set them up on the observation deck (and sometimes on the sidewalk on the south side) of the Cronyn Observatory. Sunset will be 9:06 p.m.

There will be at 3-days-past-new crescent Moon in the western sky. The planet Venus will be visible in the western sky and Jupiter will be well placed for viewing in the south-southeast. Deep-sky objects will include the double star Algieba, in the constellation Leo, and the double star Mizar and Alcor in the handle of the Big Dipper.

Parking is FREE on Saturday evenings in the Alumni Hall (around the traffic circle) and Springett Parking Lot (across Western Road).

If it is cloudy we can talk to visitors and demonstrate telescopes in the dome.

Thank you very much to all those who have helped out at the Cronyn Observatory!
