Star Night, Camp Sylvan, Grade-6 Class, May 17, 2012

On Thursday evening, May 19th, RASC London Centre member Dave McCarter traveled to Camp Sylvan to present his digital slide presentation "Constellations” to 26 Grade-6 children and 8 adults from a Sarnia school.

The end of year camping activity was operated by 3 counselors with the Bayfield Conservation Authority and took place at Frontierland. After the presentation everyone went out to the field next to Scout Road and viewed the thin crescent Venus, ruddy Mars, bright Arcturus, Mizar and Alcor, wonderful Saturn and M13 through Dave’s 25.4cm Dobsonian telescope. The kids headed to bed and Dave left for home after 10:00 p.m.
