Star Night, Pittock Conservation Area, May 31st, 2014

RASC London Centre Public Outreach Coordinator and Past President, Dave McCarter made his digital slide presentation The Universe is Awesome! before 21 visitors in the shelter on the east side of the campgrounds at Pittock Conservation Area beside Pittock Reservoir, Saturday, May 31st, 2014. He distributed 21 Star Finder planispheres & several Moon Gazers’Guide cards to the audience. Jeff Harrison later distributed approximately 4 copies of the book Mary Lou’s New Telescope.
 

Clear skies made for an excellent star night with 35 visitors in all viewing through telescopes the 3-day-past-New crescent Moon, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, spread across the sky from west to east, as well as globular cluster M13. Telescopes brought by the 3 RASC London Centre members present included Dave McCarter’s 25.4cm Dobsonian, Bill Gardner’s 101mm Tele Vue Refractor and Jeff Harrison’s 102mm Sky-Watcher Maksutov. It was an excellent evening of stargazing enjoyed by all.
