Our monthly meeting is coming up, and while we don’t have a blood moon to celebrate the Halloweeny theme, we do have ever darkening skies as we move into the cooler weather.
We’ve planned this month as a member’s night: this means that we’re relying on you all to speak up and share. Have you got a new piece of gear you’d like to discuss? An image you’ve taken that you think we’d like to hear about? Questions about how to best observe or what kind of equipment you might need to move forward in the hobby? Have a cool video you think we should see? Bring it! Dale will give us an extended version of his “What’s Up in the Sky” presentations, which are always excellent, and anything beyond that is up to you- the members!
Our meeting will begin at 7:30pm. You can attend in person at the Cronyn Observatory on the Western campus, or join us via Zoom at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89015777788
Meeting ID: 890 1577 7788 with no password.
Elections!
Yes, it’s that time of year once again- time to elect your executive committee! Have you been toying with the idea of taking on a more active role in the club? Interested in developing your leadership qualities? Want to have a say in how things are done? Well, here’s your chance.
For those who might not know, our executive is elected once a year for a one-year term. We have several positions that you can stand up for, although some have members that have agreed to carry on in the same role. This doesn’t mean that you can’t put your name in for that position however…it is an election, after all.
One position we definitely ARE in need of filling is President.
Eric Clinton has created this excerpt from our Bylaws which may help you better understand the responsibilities for each position. If you have questions, post them on the forum or bring them up at Friday’s meeting. November’s meeting is when we perform the formal election so there’s plenty of time to think about things and clarify any points.
